i've gone to all kinds of schools in my life black, latino, mix, and white. this is the problem (http://www.mediatakeout.com/2008/27846-nuh_uh_black_college_student_attends_halloween_par ty__where_all_her_friends_are_dressed_as_kkk_membe rs.html) when parents let their kids go to white schools and don't teach them about racism. which is very common. we live in a world where so many people like to believe it's a thing of the past to the extent that they don't even see it when it's right in their face. meanwhile, white people have the luxury of thinking it's funny :tease:

Im sure she knows about racism. Many are just very naive of it. She probably knows them and though it was funny at the time. The problem is if she hasn't realized how idiotic it was!

being naive = ignorance. just for the fact that she is a black girl laughing while her white "friends" are dressed like people known for killing black people just for being black means that she really doesn't know about racism. i even bet she would argue that the situation isn't racist.

it kind of reminds me of the handful of time in my own life when my white friends got too comfortable enought with me to try telling me a "nigger" joke. fuck that. they quickly saw what i thought about that shit. get your racism back in that closet cracker. at least that's the paraphrased response to their racism. you can't let people try you like that no matter what the situation or what race or sex you are cause they will.

Easy now, folks.. We can talk about the topic, without becoming perpetrators of the same kind of racist attitudes we condemn.
Please refrain from using racial epithets against other groups, as you're lumping them all together and disparaging them uniformly.
There are unsavory Blacks that Black people hate, but when non-Blacks call those people niggers, even though that's exactly what they are, that word does splash damage to all Black folk.
Same with "cracker", spic, etc.
Yes, there are cracker ass rednecks.
Yes, there are wretched ass niggers
Yes, there are detestable spics.
But you can't single those individuals for their deplorable behavior out by using a term that disparages an entire RACE.
Let us all remember that we have members AND Moderators of ALL races here, White, Latino, Black, etc. All of us love the booty; White booty, Latino Booty, Black booty - hell even Asian booty.
So let our common love of the booty in all its splendor unite us, and let us come together in the spirit of brotherhood and worship at the altar of the phat bubble butt beauty. ;-)

Well put Morph.
Surely we should judge people we come into contact with as we find them and judge then on their individual behaviour.
I'm not sure of my own lineage and ancestory, but I am not aware that it make a difference to my views or life as I set my own standards. Should I accept blame for grand parents that may have had different views to my own, If that were the case?
In short, NO!
I take care of my own shit and make sure that I treat people in a way that I would like to be treated. Sure, sometimes people don't respond, but you quickly learn to move on and steer clear of those individuals and surround yourself with those who are worth spending time with.

wait did you just get upset over the use of "cracker"? even when used in context of combating racist jokes from white people? well, that's fine but then please start regulating all the times that people use the word nigger and all of it's derivatives like "nigga" as well. unless you are saying that "cracka" is ok instead of cracker. cause we have threads and numerous posts with nigga in them and no one says shit. i don't mind following rules IF that's a rule but lets be clear and FAIR.

if she isn't offended, why should anyone else be...its her in the picture not you....everyone was laughing when dave chappelle was a blind black person acting as a leading member of the KKK in his skit, why not laugh at this....it may offend you personally, but i doubt they meant it to offend a whole race of people...there was way worse shit that happend on Halloween besides a few dumb college kids dressing up.

does it really need explaining? the kkk is an organization that was designed to oppress black people by terrorising and killing thousands of black people over decades for no other reason than color of skin. for someone to dress up like them in "fun" IS offensive. just cause they found a black person that is too naive or dumb to be offended by it doesn't make it less offensive. it actually makes it MORE offensive. sorry but having other black people laugh at jokes about black people doesn't make it less offensive to me, even when it was dave chappelle.

As long as they don't stand in the way of me getting what I want out of life I don't care about the ignorant racist people in this world.
But I can't lie I do get pissed off at by one almost everyday! some of the attitude these people kick is just too much, I mean sometimes you just know as soon as you see them how racist they are. You can feel it!!!! Then they act like your in inferior!
I do my best to brush it off but sometimes its just too much:evilmad:

That just means its offensive to you, not because parents let their kids go to white schools and don't teach them about racism...We all do dumb things, her dumb momment was just caught on camera and posted on the internet...But me personally would rather them jokingly dress up as KKK (yes i know its wrong, but look at the alternative) and drink together, instead of seeing pictures of them dressed like that and beating the girl...just remember there really are people out there who are like that, and I seriously doubt it will ever change..all we can do is not condone to that type of behavior ourselves.

I kinda have to agree with your points.
A lil humor is what we ALL may need. Maybe if we ALL lighten up we can move past race problems.

you sound like we shouldn't address racism if it's all done in "fun". remember alot of white people in Jena, LA thought those nooses were funny too. look what happened when it wasn't dealt with. if that girl was at the school she probably would have been caught laughing and taking pictures with a noose around her neck. racism is a tool of systematic oppression. it's never a laughing matter even when someone tries to make funny. have a right to criticise it when i see it. i think it's an obligation of every black person in america to at least not condone it if not fight it. i am very curious why you choose to be an apologist for the participants of the photo. just becaue it can always be worse doesn't mean that it's right or can't be criticised. and for all i know it could have lead to something worse that the pic doesn't reveal.
