I was just got bored, and decided to browse the archives for goodies.
Its a Sunday, and I have nothing better to do at work,
I resurrected this thread because of the funny comment Apollo made:D
The Centurion card is for ballers only. I've heard you've got to charge an average of $10,000 a month on your Platinum card for at least a year. Then you wait for Amex to invite you to pay the $2,500 annual fee to hold their coveted Centurion Card. Less than 10,000 of these cards are issued worldwide.

Sounds like a bunch of hype right?
If you're really a baller, the shit is worth every penny.
Why? Personal concierge and travel agent.
I don't have a Centurion (Black) card from American Express, just the Platinum. The Platinum card comes with this shitty little concierge service that you can use to buy flowers for your wife or make reservations at a restaurant if you don't know what's good. The Platinum concierge team can't handle anything more complicated than this, and they give really pitiful excuses when they don't come through. Like when I tried to order a massage at home for my wife, but I digress.
So I was using the Platinum concierge service to help me make arrangements for my trip to Rio de Janerio next week and they handed me over to a Centurion concierge because none of the Platinum slackers knew Portuguese. :)
Boy what a difference!
The dedicated Centurion concierge they assigned me is fluent in Portuguese and lived in Rio for 5 months, so she was able to recommend a spa for me in an area she was familiar with. THEN she called them up, made my reservation in Portuguese and emailed me with the confirmation details. I've probably spent more than an hour on the phone with her just telling her what I want my trip to be like, and she's been right on top of shit.
That's some balling-ass shit that I could get used to. For real.
Wow. It's really a vacation when you don't have to plan and figure everything out all by yourself.
Amex, I'm coming for my Centurion card... in a few years :)
