1UP One-upped: Threatens Brazilian Blog Over Street Fighter IV Pics
Ziff Davis scares Brazilian blog into taking down Street Fighter IV screenshots.
"Internet: serious business" indeed.
Late yesterday, Kotaku discovered that a Brazilian blog known as Blogeek seemed to have gotten their hands on some exclusive screenshots and information for Capcom's upcoming Street Fighter IV, a game which Ziff-Davis/1UP have put a lot of effort into promoting.
Now, however, visitors to the site will not find screenshots nor information, but a foreboding message signifying the hammer being brought down:
"THE SITE'S STILL DOWN.
IT WAS NOT OUR INTENTION TO MESS WITH ANYONE. LIKE EVERY NEWS SITE AND BLOG, WE JUST WANTED TO PASS INFORMATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE INTEREST FOR ANY SUBJECT.
JUT TO CLARIFY, WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY NDA, AND FAR LESS WE WOULD HACK ANYTHING FROM ZIFF DAVIS. A SOURCE CAME TO US AND PASSED SOME INFOS AND THE TWO PICTURES, AND WE PUBLISHED THEM.
ALTHOUGH WE STILL DON'T THINK WE SHOULD, WE REALLY WANT TO APOLOGIZE TO ANYONE WHO GOT HURT WITH THE INCIDENT.
ZIFF DAIVS IS STILL THREATENING US, AND WE ARE REALLY AFRAID, OF COURSE.

Though the information, which through translation includes such details as a framerate of 60FPS, the elimination of the parry system in favor of a new cancelling system dubbed either "Saving" or "Revenge," Ultra moves in addition to Super moves, a timeline placement between Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Street Fighter III, and the inclusion of Sheng Long, all remain unverifiable, naturally.
But what added a heavy weight of possible legitimacy to the site's report were the inclusion of two new screenshots featuring Ryu's rival and sparring partner, Ken:

Say what you will about the rest, but it's harder to believe that such screenshots would be faked so soon after the initial reveal.
It's understandable that Ziff-Davis would be protective over such an exclusive, but is picking on a little guy who happened to score some luck on his own the best solution?
